Broker Excellence

Recognizing Excellence in Brokerage Leadership

The Broker Excellence Award Program is a year-long initiative launching in January 2026 to promote professionalism and recognize brokers who go above and beyond for their agents. This program complements RPCRA's existing "Broker of the Year" (which honors a single outstanding broker annually) by providing a pathway for multiple brokers to earn recognition each year through continued education, engagement, and best practices. The core values celebrated are professionalism, ethics, and education, mirroring similar awards in other associations. The purpose is to encourage brokers to elevate their management practices, invest in their agents' development, and actively participate in the REALTOR® community. Brokers will accumulate points for various achievements and involvement, reflecting a model used successfully in other Realtor® organizations.

Brokers who earn the Broker Excellence Award will be publicly celebrated for their commitment to professionalism and leadership. Recipients will be featured in a full-page congratulatory ad in a major Fort Myers publication, highlighted across RPCRA's website, social channels, and member communications, and showcased in a dedicated web spotlight. Each honoree will receive a custom "Broker Excellence" lapel pin and a commemorative office plaque, and will be presented with their award at a major RPCRA event so colleagues can applaud their achievement. In addition, awardees may receive small perks--like priority seating or a special conference ribbon--so their dedication to excellence is visible both inside and outside the industry.

Point System and Criteria for Earning Points

Brokers earn points across several categories reflecting engagement, education, and professional development. The point system is modeled after best practices from other associations' awards and honor society programs that credit broad involvement. Activities and their point values are as follows:

1. Brokerage Operations & Professional Standards

Submit your brokerage's current Policy & Procedure Manual for review. This encourages brokers to maintain up-to-date, comprehensive office policies. (Manuals will be kept confidential; the review is for providing any constructive feedback and awarding points for having this important document in place.)

Submit a copy of the Independent Contractor Agreement used with your agents. Ensuring clear ICA contracts is a broker best practice, and providing one earns points. (If a broker uses the Florida Realtors/Florida Bar standard ICA or a custom one, either is acceptable - the point is awarded for having an agreement and sharing it for best-practice verification.) These two documents are critical for brokerage management, and requiring them aligns with raising professional standards in broker operations.

2. Agent Development & Certifications

For each agent in the broker's office who has earned NAR's Commitment to Excellence (C2EX) endorsement, the broker earns 1 point. C2EX is a program that develops professionalism in areas like ethics, technology, and customer service. By encouraging their REALTORS® to complete C2EX, brokers foster a culture of excellence. (There is no cap; if a broker's entire team earns C2EX, all those points count. Notably, if a broker reaches 80% of agents with C2EX - along with the broker themselves - their office would qualify for NAR's C2EX Brokerage Endorsement, a prestigious national recognition.)

Brokers receive 1 point for each professional designation or certification they personally hold and 1 point for each designation/certification earned by any of their agents during 2026. This includes NAR designations like GRI, CRB, CRS, ABR, SRS, etc., as well as recognized certifications (e.g. e-PRO, AHWD, PSA). Designations and certifications are a sign of advanced expertise and commitment to education. By promoting these, brokers demonstrate an investment in professional development. (For example, if a broker earns a new CRB designation in 2026, that's 1 point; if two of their agents earn GRI designations, that's 2 more points.) This category incentivizes brokers to push for higher knowledge and credentials within their team. It also highlights the value of continuing education, similar to how other Realtor award programs give credit for designations and educational achievements.

3. Education & Events Participation

As noted, attending each Broker Excellence bi-monthly Zoom session in 2026 earns the broker 5 points. With six sessions scheduled, a broker can earn up to 30 points by attending all. These sessions cover key topics like legal updates, technology, and leadership which are vital for broker success. The significant point value underscores the importance of ongoing education.

RPCRA's general membership meetings or "Member Breakfasts" (if held regularly) are another avenue for broker engagement. Brokers will earn 2 points for each attendance at the Association's member networking breakfasts or general membership meetings in 2026. This encourages brokers to stay involved locally, network with peers, and stay informed on Association news. (If, for example, there are 6 member breakfast meetings in the year, attending all could yield 12 points.)

RPCRA may hold additional broker-focused forums, roundtables, summits or workshops outside the bi-monthly Zoom calls. Participation in any extra Broker forums or in-person workshops hosted by the Association will earn 2 points per event. (E.g. if a special legal seminar for brokers is offered in June and the broker attends, they get 2 points.)

4. Association & Industry Involvement

Serving on an RPCRA Committee or on the Florida Gulf Coast MLS Committee in 2026 earns a broker 5 points per committee. Active committee involvement demonstrates leadership and commitment to the profession. (For instance, being a member of the RPCRA Professional Development Committee and the MLS Advisory Committee would earn 10 points if they serve on both.) Committee work aligns with the program's spirit of involvement - much like other associations encourage Realtor participation in governance and community work.

If a broker holds a formal leadership position in 2026 (such as RPCRA Board of Directors, Officer, or Committee Chair), they receive an additional 5 points. Brokers in leadership are contributing at a higher level of service. (This is cumulative with the committee service points; e.g., if they chair a committee, they get committee points + leadership points.)

Brokers who attend major industry events beyond the local level earn points for broadening their horizons. Attending the Florida Realtors Convention (the state annual conference) in 2026 will earn 5 points. Attending a National Association of REALTORS® Convention (such as the NAR Annual Conference in November 2026) earns another 5 points. These conventions offer professional development, networking, and industry insight. Encouraging attendance aligns with recognizing involvement at state and national levels. (If a broker attends both the Florida Realtors Convention and the NAR Conference, they'd get 10 points total.)

As a further recognition of high-level involvement, if a broker serves on a Florida Realtors or NAR committee in 2026, that service will earn 5 points. (Many local brokers may not have this role, but those who do are truly going above and beyond for the profession.)

Point Threshold:
To earn the Broker Excellence Award, a broker must accumulate at least 50 points over the course of 2026. This threshold is set to ensure that only those who actively engage in a majority of these opportunities qualify, roughly akin to meeting strict criteria for an honor society or excellence award. It is achievable (as evidenced by the expectation of ~20-25 brokers qualifying) but requires commitment across multiple areas.

Bi-Monthly Broker Zoom Sessions

A cornerstone of the program is a series of bi-monthly educational Zoom calls for brokers. These sessions occur every two months on a Thursday at 10:00 AM (Eastern). Each session will focus on crucial brokerage leadership topics: legal updates, brokerage best practices, leadership and recruiting strategies, technology advancements, and broker risk management. These topics align with the needs identified for broker education (e.g. legal updates, leadership, recruiting, technology, and best practices as noted) and mirror content that many associations provide to keep brokers informed and skilled.

Each Zoom session will feature expert speakers or panelists. For example, legal updates might be presented by a real estate attorney or Florida Realtors legal counsel. Leadership and tech sessions might feature experienced brokers or industry trainers. These sessions are designed to be interactive, allowing brokers to ask questions and share insights. Attendance is highly encouraged - not only for the valuable knowledge, but also because each session attended earns points toward the award (see point system below).

To facilitate attendance, calendar invites for all sessions will be provided upon program launch. Recordings will be available for review; however, live participation is required to earn points (to encourage real-time engagement).

2026 Schedule
Sessions are on Thursdays at 10 AM
